Same Same But Different – Gender equality in the EU
Start date: Jul 1, 2014, End date: Oct 1, 2014 PROJECT  FINISHED

Former youth exchanges showed that gender related roles and attributions concerning gender have an eminent relevance for adolescents. Knowing these partner organizations agreed on bringing gender aspects into focus of 2015th international youth exchange. Young people between 15-17 years from each of the countries Spain, Italy, Poland and Germany got together at the area of Kulturkosmos Müritz e. V. The area in the middle of the Mecklenburg Lake District offered very good infrastructural and personal conditions to realize this project. Young people got the chance to deal with the topic gender on various levels (personally, historically, currently, future related). 11 days long they have been able to look into gender related living conditions in their own lives and in European society. The topic was developed along the adolescents?experiences in their daily life (methodically, interactive, thematically). Their experiences were broadened through exchange and theoretical input. In theater, film/media, musical, visual arts and clowns workshops young people have been working on a joint performance. All workshops considered a creative way of assimilating the main topic. In addition there were leisure activities to support the topical examination. One central aim has been to enable young people to make intercultural learning experiences along with a topic. Young people?s cultural form of expression has been strengthened and they were able to express their point of view with their knowledge from the workshops. Concentrated teamwork on a theater performance offered manifold ways of non-formal learning. Further the young people got to know each other very well. Finally the performance was presented in front of other young people, parents and interested audience. The camp has been documented by the young people themselves. The result is a movie about the performance which can be shown to a broad public. The movie is also be a permanent memory for all participants.
