SAMARA KINDERGARDENS

The EVS project “Samara Kindergartens” will involve 4 Italian volunteers for a 9-months voluntary service at the Samara Waldorf Kindergarten and Samara Jewish kindergarten Makkabi in Samara, a 1,5 million city in the south-east of Russia. The Waldorf Kindergarten of Samara is part of a huge worldwide network of schools, based on the method developed by Rudolf Stainer. Makkabi is a Samara Jewish cultural center. The kindergarten is a part of the organisation. The children are educated according to the program approved by the government of Russian Federation. In addition they get to know the history and traditions of Jewish people, learn Hebrew. The volunteers will be involved in the innovative pedagogical activities carried on by the kindergartens, such as playing games, toy-making, reading, painting, music, modelling and theatre, and there will be also space for the development of volunteers’ personal projects. The organization Lastochki, part of the international network ICYE, will closely follow the volunteers learning process, by helping them to keep track of their experience, by taking care of their practical and logistical needs, and by helping them to act “European Ambassdors” for the local community.
