The project is prepared and planned for monitoring and gaining of good practices and innovative ideas in Europe. The project aims can be sum up as; -improving the teachers’ qualifications and skills,-observing the best practices in Europe, -using eTwinning to enhance the collaborations between Turkish teachers and European teachers, -developing child-centered education system, Alper Duru Nursery school will contribute its international strategies, education and teaching strategies, and the school strategic plan within the project. The scope of the project is to integrate the healthy nutrition strategies in the school subjects. The children will gain the understanding of nutrition and will give importance on healthy nutrition habits. With the mobilities to Portugal, the teachers will meet with Europe and European applications on healthy nutrition habits and combating with obesity. The starting point of the project is from the current situation and the needs of the school. The project aims to gather the new implementations to overcome the current problem of the school; malnutrition and obesity. The children do not have healthy nutrition habits, so the teachers and the management staff decided to create the project. Within the scope of the project, children will learn how to control their nutrition habits. The teachers will acquire related knowledge and experiences to guide the students. Additionally, the project also serves to children’s sport compassion and sport habits. Because, sport triggers healthy nutrition and healthy nutrition supports doing sport. The motto “Healthy Mind in Healthy Body” clarifies the project’s aims clearly. The mission of the school is to build healthy generations for the future. The project directly contributes in the school’s strategic plans and aims for the future. Besides, the theme of the project “Healthy Nutrition Habits and Combating with Obesity” takes place in the school strategic plan for the next 5 years. The results of need analysis of the school: Children, school staff and the teachers suffer from lack of knowledge about healthy nutrition habits, the anti-obesity and the sports. This situation causes the obesity. To solve the problem, the school staff and the teachers need to observe the best applications in Portugal, Europe and to gather knowledge and experiences. The school can have related skills and knowledge to implement the project. The school only needs education and awareness. To sum up the aim of the project in one sentence; the project includes the innovative applications, personnel and teachers’ education and the ways of healthy life. With the project, Alper Duru Nursery School supports the project “The Schools Friends with Nutrition” by the cooperation with Ministry of Education and Turkey Public Health Organization Diabetes, Obesity and Metabolic Illnesses Department. While specifying the participants, the project coordination and management team gives positive discrimination to female teachers. Among the participants; there are teachers who have certificates in healthy nutrition habits and anti-obesity, scouting, trainers and coordinate the outdoor extracurricular. Expected project results; the teachers will improve their foreign language abilities, the skills of monitoring, communication strategies, gaining awareness on the project topic, and will the increase in professional life. The teachers will meet with new cultures and trigger their professional development. The teachers will follow the most trend educational technological tools to support their teaching styles. They also add European standards in their teaching and studies. With the basic activities of the project; there will be researches on the nutrition habits. In Europe and especially in Portugal, the participants will be informed about the systems, methods and implementations in obesity and healthy nutrition habits. The course includes that the teachers will have gather the knowledge how they can integrate the project topic an issues in their teaching process when they are teaching at the nursery school. The program will not only lectures but at the same time, the teachers will be active during the course. Active involvement of the participants is the most striking point of the project. The participants also will visit the nursery schools and will be together with the local/regional education authorities, with the municipality, nursery schools, non-governmental organizations. So the teachers will directly see the systems in Portugal. In Antalya, Turkey;after finishing the project and also during the implementation of the project; the participants will discuss how they can improve the nursery teachers’ skills, pedagogy and teaching methods. The results will enhance the number of these kinds of project in the city. The school will be also the leader of pre-primary education, anti-obesity and healthy nutrition habits combining with doing sports under nutrition and sport experts' supervision.
