S-LAROPA 5

The project S-LAROPA 5 builds on good cooperation of the partners in previous parts of S-LAROPA youth exchange, as well as in the field of EVS and trainings. The name S-LAROPA is an abbreviation of words -support + self-development+soHdarity+ strength+society+ Latin America + Europa.The project connects partner organisations from Brazil, Uruguay, Chile, Latvia, Norway and Slovakia. The target group are young people aged 15 to 19, about 80% of the participants are young people with less opportunities.The main pre-activities involve creating and processing 5 highlights about own country, organizing ICL workshops for young people in local community and doing research about the cultural awareness about the countries involved as well as global issues of vital importance to the young people. Their outcomes will be presented and discussed at a youth exchange organised in June 2010 in Chile. 7 young people and 1 youth leader from each country will take part in this exchange. Afterwards, follow-up workshops, dissemination activities and final evaluation will be carried out.The details of this project were discussed and final form of this application form was prepared during the Advanced Planning visit for S-Laropa 4 (Ref. No. 144502-3.2.-SK-2008), taking place in Slovakia from 1 to 4 May 2009.The priority theme is fight against racism and xenophobia. The project covers all priorities of this call for proposals.The main objectives are:-promote tolerance and understanding among young people-fostering direct participation of young people, esp. young people with less opportunities-empowerment of young people and development of their leadership skills within the youth sector-increased participation of young people in the civic life of their community» raising awareness of young people in relation to global issues such as sustainable development, migrations and climate change-deepening cooperation and creating sustainable partnership between the partner organisations-exchange of experience and good practice in.the field of youth work-promote the Youth in Action programmeDuring the project, the young people are expected to gain intercultural sensitivity and increased tolerance, as well as new knowledge, skills and experience and become more active and involved at local level.The tangible results and outputs of the project will be organisation of workshops and follow-up workhops, mass media presentations of 5 highlights of each country, global issues, creation and regular update of a website of the exchange, organisation of a Public Day during the exchange and final DVD of the project.
