S'approprier un patrimoine médiéval et le valoriser numériquement dans le cadre des jumelages
Start date: Sep 1, 2016, End date: Aug 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project we applied for is about 60 students and teachers from the years 9 and 10, elected representatives, city councillors and community volunteers from France and Portugal. It’s been part of the twinning between Blain and Alcoutim since 14 July 2005.Its main ambition is to make the students aware of their territory’s medieval heritage and to promote it through a blog or maybe a newsletter common to both schools in both countries. The blog or its paper equivalent, the newsletter, will serve as a database for any student interested in the La Groulaie Castle or its Alcoutim counterpart, and the Middle Ages as a whole. It will also be a valuable source of information for tourists of both sites in its French, Portuguese, Spanish and English versions. This project will allow students to work with digital tools, to acquire the skills necessary to create a blog, and to be trained for a reasonable and critical use of these tools. As described in the application form, school exchanges will reinforce the students’ self-fulfilment and self-confidence by developing what they need to be and to know, all the while contributing to their European identity and sense of belonging. The project is in keeping with the communication and cooperation steps undertaken by the project’s partners and other stakeholders, particularly through:- Two transnational meetings among teachers, council and community professionals to formalise the project and its organisation.- One school exchange between France and Portugal in February (teachers and students from Saint-Laurent School, France)- One school exchange between Portugal and France in April (teachers and students from the Alcoutim School, Portugal)The expected impact on the students will take the form of:- the acquisition and development of skills through the discovery of an environment full of cultural differences, - adaptive skills and behaviours in unexpected and potentially problematic situations, - the ability to question their reality and that of others, - the self-affirmation of their personality by developing what they need to be and to know.Acquiring blog construction skills and the good use of the Internet in nowadays’ digital environment is also a fundamental objective. The results will be evaluated and the people concerned informed throughout the project. However, this project is the first building block of a prospective twinning with Oldenburg in Holstein, Germany. It certainly gathers people’s energy to that end. As a result, this project will be resubmitted in the years to come to include a third school from its German town.
