Rural-Urban-Nature
Start date: Jun 17, 2014, End date: Nov 17, 2014 PROJECT  FINISHED

"Rural-Urban-Nature" is a youth exchange that aims to take place in several locations in the urban and rural areas of Romania from 17th June to 16th November 2014, with the main activities implemented between 10-24 July 2014. We live in an era where the technology is has an important role in everyone's lives and sometimes these lives are dictated by what is happening in the virtual environment. The youth of 21st Century have the tendency to live more in the virtual world and to use the so called 'social networks', to the detriment of the real world, without realizing that, actually, the real social network is the one that survives without internet. The aim of the project is to help the youth to discover a large number of activities that they can implement in their spare time. During the activities we will promote the socio-cultural events that they can organize and attend to, thus socializing with people with similar interests, detaching themselves from the virtual world. Our main objectives are to promote the social and cultural events among young people, to offer alternatives of spending the time that is not dedicated to studying, encouraging the youth to make an effort to getting involved in the development of some benefit events both for them and for their community. The target participants are 16 young people aged between 14 and 18 years old, students at high schools from rural areas, and 4 auxiliary staff and teachers. The total of 20 persons is coming from Romania and Turkey, 10 members in each group. Participants are young people with fewer opportunities, that fight with geographical, social and economic obstacles. Among the activities that we want to implement we remind: games (name, team building, group games), city hunting, hand made workshops, environment presentations, cleaning the areas surrounding the accommodation place, cultural trips, Erasmus+ and Youthpass presentation, brainstorming for future projects, photography, evaluations (daily, midterm, final), activities specific for mountain, life in the countryside, ways to spend the free time, visits at other youth associations, debates on differences/opportunities/possibilities that the urban and rural environment are offering, cultural nights, carriers and choosing a job workshop, interactive nights with karaoke and movies. The activities will be implemented in rural and urban areas, as well as in the nature. The working methods chosen use the non-formal instruments such as games and team building activities, team working, presentations, evaluations, cleaning and recycling activities, hand made workshops, cultural events, sports and games in open air, discussions, debates and photography workshops. The main results that we expect at the end of the mobility is that the participants to understand the differences of the rural and urban environment, between the preserving the tradition and promotion of a innovator life style and about the way in which the made choices reflect on their personal and professional life. It is important that they understand the fact that using the technology, although it is beneficial and it makes our life easier, we shouldn't used in excess, especially when there are so many alternatives to spend the spare times in an useful, educative, recreational and constructive ways. We believe that by the end of end of the project, the participants will get awareness the importance and the role they have in their communities, in the development of beneficial activities for themselves, for their personal and professional development. With all these, we hope that when the participants will be back home they will try to bring changes in the way of organizing the time and we hope they will develop some projects. Eventually, the potential benefits on the long term are the changes that these young people can bring firstly in their lives and then in their friends' circle, promoting more the socio-cultural activities inside their community and thus becoming more active in developing their society.
