The Salesian Sisters’ Schools Centre in Suwałki together with the Your International Training in Ireland, will be realising a common project aiming at organizing vocational practice for the students of our school. The project anticipates 21-day mobility for 15 trainees studying to become tourist service technician.The main objectives of the project are:a. the improvement of practical skills and professional competence in the area of the education for the tourist service technicianb. acquiring professional experience in working in high-standard hotels and preparation for working in Poland and abroadc. the improvement of the knowledge of the Italian and English languagesd. direct acquisition of a foreign culture and breaking linguistic barriersThe realisation of the above-mentioned objectives is going to increase the standard of teaching in our school, enable our students to get international practice, enrich the process of vocational education by making it possible for the trainees to obtain high-quality professional qualifications, preparation for the mobility in the European job market. The participants in the project will get acquainted with the new working methods, attention will be directed to the quality of tourist service and the professional uniform of the people serving hotel guests, and to the marketing activity. At the same time the trainees’ self-confidence and self-esteem are going to rise.After the realisation of the project the anticipated results will deal with two basic directions, i.e. professional and social skills.As far as professional skills are concerned, the project participant is going to:- confront theoretical knowledge acquired at school with practice- get acquainted with the standards and rules of tourist service obligatory in European tourist facilities- get to know the service rules and practical professional vocabulary - perfect language skills- acquire new professional experience in the foreign job market- obtain documents necessary to apply for a job on the European job marketAs far as social skills, the trainee is going to:- acquire team work skills- acquire new communicative skills- overcome linguistic and cultural barrier, shyness in contacts with foreigners- abolish the stereotypes of the Pole and the Irishman (as a tourist, worker)- make new acquaintance- exchange experience with peers, parents, teaching staff after coming back- increase the range of personal development and level of self-realisationIn the perspective of long-term benefits, the anticipated influence of the project on its participants will be included, among others, in the upgrading of the quality of didactic classes, breaking linguistic and cultural barriers, encouraging to further education, learning foreign languages, acquiring professional skills necessary to pass the vocational exam, and obtaining experience. The realisation of the project is going to allow our school to increase experience in obtaining foreign practice, introduce new teaching methods, oblige the teaching staff to raise the level of their teaching, encourage to look for new partners, increase mobility, learn new practices and apply them in the school.
