Secondary Vocational School of Mechanical Engineering in Považská Bystrica is the Center of Vocational Education and Training which means that it must focuses on the overall rebuilding of the content of vocational education in secondary schools, using innovative forms and methods of teaching, transformation of vocational education and training and finally, linking vocational education with practical needs. However, its teachers lack the necessary knowledge, skills and experience to manage such a demanding process without help. Therefore they need help and support in the form of further training aimed at practical demonstrations of teaching of English for specific purposes (ESP), using innovative methods, techniques and procedures.Selection of the mobility participants was based on their previous experience related to projects of transnational character and European importance, qualification, their personal approach to work and especially their immense potential to use the experience gained not only for the benefit of our school but also for the benefit of other secondary vocational schools in Slovakia. Ms. Gabriela Naterova has been participating in an ongoing project Flash Electro financed by Erasmus+ programme. The project is addressing concrete need specified as lack of vocationally-orientated modern teaching and learning materials in the vocational electrician schools in Slovakia. She also participated in national project Electronisation of Education system of Regional Education, part of which was installing and equipping digital classrooms and accustoming digital educational content. Mr. Richard Fulek is a young, but very prospective teacher who has experience of cooperation with foreign companies and therefore understands the need for vocational language training of our future graduates. He participated in eTwinning training aimed at participation in diverse international projects and cooperation between schools across Europe. Ms. Barbora Dudáková is also young but enthusiastic teacher who is eager to use the latest teaching methods and approaches. After successful completion of mobilities our participants will be able to compare vocational training in the United Kingdom and Slovakia, get new ideas on teaching English, especially teaching ESP. They will update their knowledge on various aspects of vocational education in the United Kingdom and they will also improve their language level. The participants will be able to compare approaches and methods concerning ESP teaching , gain new ideas for motivating students and developing a positive working atmosphere that encourages and supports students so that they will be able to reach their full potential. They will increase their awareness of how to use technology in the learning process, increase and develop ideas for teaching of ESP using information and communication technologies. They will also be able to create a network of teacher contacts across Europe and through this network discuss current language issues. The school will implement the acquired experiences and competences of the teachers participating in the project in teaching process, which will greatly contribute to the improvement of educational outcomes and preparedness of our graduates for working life. For students studying in 3-year study programmes ending with skill certificate we want to create worksheets and interactive exercises focusing on ESP. For students studying in 4-year study programmes ending with school leaving examination Maturita, we also want to create worksheets and interactive exercises aimed at ESP, but we also want to implement it into graduation assignments. Furthermore, in future the school would like to take the opportunity for students of vocational education and training programmes to internship abroad either at a vocational school with practical teaching or business. The school will also organize training courses and workshops not only in Povazska Bystrica, but also across the country, aiming to promote vocational language learning and in cooperation with Erasmus +, contribute to improving the quality of vocational education and training in Slovakia and to provide assistance and valuable information and advice to other teachers who are interested in an internship abroad. The school also intends to use the experience acquired to build strategic partnerships with other organizations and businesses to create close links between education and training and the world of work. After the project questionnaires will be created for students of the school but also for companies that cooperate with our school as a Centre of Vocational Education and Training. The questionnaires will be designed to evaluate the benefits of implementation of ESP in the school curricula. In 4-year study programmes the school will monitor and evaluate the progress which graduates make because ESP will be included in the final assignment for the oral school leaving exam for the first time.
