„Make Decisions about Europe“ is a project designed for secondary school students of all types of schools from the Czech and Slovak Republic. The project is aimed at promoting dialogue of young people in the Czech Republic and Slovak Republic on current issues related to their common life in Europe and the mutual dialogue of young people with decision-makers on these topics. The project also brings the decision-making process at European Union level for young people in the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic, through the following activities: trans-national youth meetings (20 high school students from the Czech Republic and Slovakia), regional interactive workshops (13 workshops in the Czech Republic, 8 in Slovakia), simulation of the EU institutions meetings (70 participants from the Czech Republic and Slovakia) and the final conference for the presentation of outputs (20 participants from the Czech Republic and Slovakia). For secondary school students, the project represents a unique combination of an informed debate with people with decision-making powers accompanied by the simulation of the EU institution meetings - young people experience real participation in a democratic society not only through simulation, but also through a real contact with politicians (and other public officials). In the long term perspective, the project will contribute to increasing young people's participation in public affairs, especially with regard to policy at the EU level which is the furthermost for them and will help to engage more young people in dialogue about politics and social issues.
