Role-playing Citizen
Start date: Mar 1, 2015, End date: Sep 1, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

The background for the project is related to the low activism of young people and low faith in the individual to influence political processes. The partners being from the Baltic region adds an added layer of cooperation and aim to improve solidarity among Baltic people. The main goal of this project is to increase politically inactive youth's understanding of citizen initiatives through role-playing, with special focus on underrepresented minorities. The direct goals are to increase knowledge on different citizen initiatives, raise the confidence and initiative of the participants and increase the experience of the participants in regards to citizen initiative. There will be 34 young people participating, around the age of 16-25, who are politically inactive. Around half of our participants will be people with fewer opportunities, especially people belonging to a minority. The main learning methods will be workshops, roleplaying and analysis. There will be short larps in participating countries before the exchange. In addition there will be activities supporting teamwork and cultural exchange. As a result the participants will have the necessary knowledge, confidence and experience to do citizen initiatives, participate more in the political and social issues and take initiative. The learning method will be mapped, published online and introduced to youth workers. There will also be a small booklet with advice, how to do a citizen initiative. The hoped long term impact is the increased stability and solidarity of the region and more citizen initiatives, which in turn supports strong democracy.
