Robotik (a challenge)
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

Background There are many medium size companies and global player located in our area. They engage in the field of mechanical engineering. These companies don´t just concentrate on our local markets, export also is very important for them. Our students either do their training at these companies after leaving our school or after attending colleges of further education first. These companies are highly interested in our school leavers. By taking part in Erasmus+, we want our students to make practical use of and improve their foreign language skills and gather experience on an international level. Project objectives: This is what we aim at: We want to exchange our knowledge and experience in the field of robotics, learn more about teaching methods and didactics in robotics and find out about the role technology plays in the classroom abroad. We also want to develop new ideas for a robotics competition on a European level. Furthermore, we intend to extend and intensify our own voluntary robotics school courses as a consequence of what we learn through this project. Number and profile of participants From our side information technology teachers and two classes will participate in the project. Two or three teachers will travel abroad to take part in job-shadowing and training. Beyond that our team “Robotik in Schwaben” (Robotics in Swabia) and the students and apprentices attending “Staatsinstut für die Ausbildung von Fachlehrern” (teacher training college) will take part. We hope that what we will learn, will find its way into our permanent curriculum. The training event will serve us to broaden our basic teaching techniques and result in making new acquaintances. Description of activities We plan Job shadowing and teaching at a partners school. And we will visit to a subject-specific training event. A method for project implementation Through job shadowing (Sweden and Spain) and teaching (Denmark) we hope that what we will learn , robotic will find its way into our permanent curriculum. The training event (in Portugal) will serve us to broaden our basic teaching techniques and result in making new acquaintances. Brief discription of results and Impact At our school we want to live well aware of Europe. By means of teaching robotics we hope to gain a more profound understanding of robotics and improve our skills in teaching classes like MINT, ICT, especially Modul our G1 and G2 of our present curriculum which cover in coding algorithmn and object-orientated programming. In the long run we intend to plan a KA2 project with pupils and students in order to launch a Europe wide Lego contest. Furthermore, our school intends to extend our activities in robotics beyond compulsory classes and compete in the Lego-League.
