Revonlahden kansainvälisyyshanke
Start date: Dec 31, 2015, End date: Dec 30, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

Our school Revonlahti is a primary school in Siikajoki. There are eight teachers from our school in the project. We are trying to get sponsors for them to have an international schooling. All our teachers are very willing to take part in the project and to improve their language and pedagogical skills. Our aim is to improve both pupils and staffs language skills and add their courage to communicate with foreign languages. We think that internationality is a possibility and hope it could be a natural part of our daily routines. To have courage to meet different kind of people is one of the most important things we want to develope in our countryside school. With international contacts we get valuable experiences to meet people. Experiences from different cultures will help us to understand differences. Because the society today is coming more and more international, also we are going to meet more and more differencies and different people. One of our aims is to find international networks. This will open new international doors for our pupils, too. Strong knowing in technology will help us to reach these plans and to communicate with the networks. There are also many foreign language IT-programs and solutions. Improving your foreign language skills will also improve your technological skills in schoolwork. We need schooling how to use more effectively our new tablets. Modern technology offers pedagogical possibilities and we quarantee that our pupils will reach these skills. It is important that the staff knows how the computers work. It is the only way to use them effectively. Although we have to remember that the computer is not an end in itself, but helps the pupils for more effective and more interesting learning. Our Erasmus+ -project will give answers to these aims. Five of our teachers are planning to take part in a one week language course in Malta. We have planned that the teachers will start teaching English language in classes from third to sixth and also for the pre-primary children with short “language showers”. Three of our teachers are planning to take part in a one week tablet course in Portugal. We believe we get the best possible synergy by these two courses. The teachers will reflect all the learning and write it down on the blog of the school. This is how also the other teachers can follow the course in real time. After the courses we share all our knowledge to the staff and begin to use it in our teaching. Every teacher is an active participant and collects knowledge. After the courses the teachers share their knowhow with colleges. We also do that to other schools in Siikajoki. Our headmaster will encourage other schools to take part in Erasmus+ -project by telling about our project in the meeting for the headmasters. Our teachers will be ready to give lectures for other teachers on the schooling days. We tell about the principles of the “language shower” to the parents of our pupils. We are planning to write an article about the cources and teachers studies during Erasmus+ -project in local paper. By our blogdiary the others can follow the progress of the courses. These common projects of school will enlarge the feeling of togetherness. This is also way we develop the social skills of our pupils, teachers and other staff. We are sure, that this project gives a positive influence for the atmosphere in our school.
