Revitalisation of the Route of Health and Friendship (PARENZANA II)

To preserve the old railway track in Slovenia and Croatia and the simultaneous construction of additional primary infrastructure for the cycling path intended for recreation and sport in order to improve and develop the tourist infrastructure, to integrate the present offer of natural, cultural and technical heritage and tourist events into an integrated tourist product with a view to increase the identity of the cross-border area and the route, to improve the promotion and marketing of the route as an integrated product for the fans of nature and cycling bythe organization and promotion of cultural events in all participating municipalities in Istria, to raise the awareness of the importance and development potentials of Parenzana, which will contribute to its visibility and networking to support the projects intended for cross-border cooperation, to reduce the burden on the road transport and introduce ecologically more favourable forms of transport, such as walking and cycling, in which we seek to influence in particular the local population and tourists to start using alternative forms of mobility. Expected Results: Revitalized Parenzana route in full length and improvement of its infrastructure, established conditions for further improvement of the Parenzana infrastructure in the cross-border area, qualified tourist workers and standardised tourist services in the cross-border area, support to bikers in the cross-border region by the establishment of info bike points, established network of multimedia Parenzana museums in the cross-border area, public informed about the objectives and achievements of the project in the cross-border area and promotion of the Parenzana cross-border destination.
