Reuse is our future

"Reuse is our future" was a project which fosters intercultural competence among youngsters aged 14 - 18 years who come from the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Bosnia and Hercegovina, Montenegro and Austria. They met for an intercultural exchange at the youth centre in Tanzenberg. During the 8 days which they spent there, the participants present the different situations they find themselves in in their home countries. In lectures, workshops, presentations, discussion panels and field trips the youngsters discussed and deal with their expectations and ideas of a ecological issues and recycling projects; by looking to the points; increasing production of a waste, overuse of a natural sources, wasting of the food, sustainable development, ecology in developing countries etc. than they should get a deeper understanding of Environmental issues. The participants worked out the meaning and importance of ecologic and sustainable behaviour, education, an active citizenship, various forms of solidarity and mutual understanding and publish their findings in a videoclip and in the ECOpaper. These results are also supposed to lead to further activities in these fields in the Youngsters´ home countries. Apart from the discussions and the work, the participants had the opportunity to engage in sports and cultural activities all of which had a special emphasis on solidarity.
