Restoration Works along the River Drava

The goal of the project was the maintenance of the Drava River basin in the Hungarian-Croatian border region, the removal of branches, stumps and regulation facilities that are no longer in use and obstruct the safety of water traffic, in order to create conditions for safer navigation. The long-term goal in cooperation with the Croatian partner is ensuring safe navigation in the entire 128.4 km section of the water route from rkm 70+200 to rkm 198+600 which is adequate for navigation on the Drava River alongside the joint Croatian-Hungarian border Achievements: For the removal and hauling of branches and debris it was necessary to place a crane on a floating platform and to conduct repair work on the 130-ton barge. The remains of a stone dam on the left bank of the Drava River at rkm 74+000 which has no function of any kind and is under water almost all-year round will be removed as well as a considerable amount of branches and stumps grown deeply in the river basin on the route of the water path from rkm185+000 to rkm185+500, as well as from rkm 187+000 to 187+500, which was also an endangerment to the safety of navigation on the river. The completed tasks certainly make a considerable improvement of the safety of navigation on the river Drava alongside the Croatian-Hungarian border
