Responsible Citizenship - Civic Volunteering

Project “Responsible citizenship - TC on Civic Volunteering” is dedicated for youth workers, people who work with young volunteers professionally or voluntarily and people working in NGOs - or want to start such a cooperation like police- or firemen to involve young people in to the civic society through volunteering. Another target group is retired policemen, firemen and people who would like to stay in connect with their former work through coordinating a group of young volunteers. Civic society volunteering is understood here volunteering in the ambulance or fire services or with the police. The project will be implemented by experienced trainers with a variety of non-formal education methods from workshops to practical outdoor training. The purpose of the project is to prepare these professionals or former professionals to take action to increase participation of young people in the society and to increase their sense of responsibility for their local environment. The participants will gain knowledge and skills related in engaging young people with volunteering for the community and in stimulation to active citizenship. They will also learn organising and coordinating civic society volunteering . Amount of participants: 34 Age: 18+ Methodology: Brainstorm, group work, group discussions, presentations, methods workshop, open space, individual reflection, drama, World cafe, Oxford debate, watching a movie and discussion. Result & impact: Young people and civic actors form groups that act for developing the civil society Long term benefits: Young people participate in civic society volunteering and are an active part of the civil society.
