Resources on the European socio-economic model
Start date: Sep 1, 2014, End date: Aug 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

By developing and disseminating an innovative and enriched set of scientific and educational resources and digital tools on the EU’s socio-economic model, the project aims both to considerably strengthen the CVCE’s ability to deliver scientific analysis on the subject and to support the development of enhanced teacher-training activities in EU interdisciplinary studies. The 2008–2009 financial crisis and the subsequent sovereign debt crisis (2010–2013) deeply challenged the resilience of the EU and the Member States to deal with external pressure and to adapt their respective socio-economic, financial and monetary frameworks to an environment shaped by greater market integration and high risk aversion. From 2008 onwards, the EU launched a reform of its financial and economic governance.Dispersion of knowledge and the segmentation of disciplines have resulted in a lack of interdisciplinary analyses of the European model, its governance and its changes after the last five years of crisis and reform. Despite the importance of the questions at stake, no comprehensive set of information resources, educational materials and exchanges of expertise on these issues is available. The project aims to fill this gap. Building on the CVCE’s experience in peer-reviewed e-publications and digital methods and tools for research and teaching, the project encompasses both research in the fields of EU studies and digital humanities and the dissemination of knowledge to the education and lifelong learning communities and the general public. Methodologically, the project promotes cross-cultural and multidisciplinary perspectives (law, economics, contemporary history and political science) and a multilingual approach. Scientifically, the project will rely on an external scientific committee composed of academics and renowned experts to support the CVCE in the design and implementation of its research and teaching activities.
