rendez-vous Rue du Bocage
Start date: May 1, 2015, End date: Jan 1, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

Context This project will take place in Herve in Belgium during 8 days August 2015 to take part of a street theater festival. It comes from a desire of young people who are already practicing circus and break dance within our organization to meet and share their knowledge with other young people. Objectives, impacts and outcomes Through three workshops (circus, dance and street sports), we will help young people to find their place, show their skills and the quality of the youth exchange within a local cultural event known and recognized. We will encourage intercultural dialogue and appropriation of civic values through sharing and learning skills. This scenario, this common goal (the preparation of a show) will submerge the group and encourage young people to share civic values. Every group member will have the opportunity to be creative and we’ll encourage sharing, caring, listening and solidarity; each youngster will assume responsibilities to help group cohesion and be able to cooperate to a collective creation. Finally, through the diversity and the exchange, young people will become aware of the interest to open up to others and to showcase their skills. These techniques are relatively new, so the experience is also an opportunity to make these disciplines known to an audience that does not feel concerned about youth practices. Participants’profile Young people participating in this project are active members of our Youth club’s workshops. Apart from these activities, it is difficult for us to take part in other type of actions leading by our Youth Club. We also observe that the public space is deserted by young people in favour of virtual spaces like social networks. That creates a rift between the young and the local population. Through this initiative we wish to bring young people to reclaim public space, recreating the link with the population, highlight their expertise, their skills. Description and Methodology We will propose three workshops : a dance studio, a circus workshop and a street sport workshop. We’ll use the methods of non-formal education to achieve a collective creation combining the three disciplines and present it on stage at the festival.
