REMOTE - Retail Education Mechanism for Online Training in Europe

The REMOTE project will develop, test and promote a new learning package leading to a qualification in web design technology. It will be tailored for delivery by retail outlets, not necessarily formal educational institutions, to learners with disabilities in different learning situations i.e. at home, at work or at college. The final report will be published in book form. Main outputs will be the retail-education learning platform, operating in four languages (EN, DE, ES & RO) and an accredited web design technology-learning product. Innovative features of the e-learning platform design will be its compatibility with current quality Internet provision in private households and its recourse to special software to facilitate computer usage by people with different disabilities. From the outset, the curriculum will be designed for accreditation by awarding bodies in all partner countries. Extensive testing will ensure feedback from a range of people with disabilities in different learning situations and from different stakeholders, including disability support organisations. The project will be publicised at national and international level to promote good practice in e-learning for people with disabilities among a range of stakeholders, including disability organisations, training providers, employer organisations and policy makers. This will be through the media, newsletters, professional or trade journals, e-learning networks and via the hosting of four national dissemination seminars.
