Rememberance of The European East West Conflict: Pedagogical Approaches for dealing with the history and its current consequences.

To our training in Berlin (from 7.11.-14.11.2014) 30 trainees from Germany, Lithuania, Italy, Romania and Finland came, who all had experiences on working with youth and young adults. Under the title ”Rememberance of The European East West Conflict: Pedagogical Approaches for dealing with the history and its current consequences” the participants learned, tried out, discussed and evaluated a large variety of pedagogical approaches to deal with the east-west history. In an intercultural context, the participants got also background informations about the GDR history of Germany. In order to deal with the wide range of pedagogical approaches the training involved activities such as doing excursions to historical memorial places, talking with contemporary witnesses, doing biographical work and trying out creative and artistic methods. All of the activities in the program had the common factor of applying the trainees actively within the context of intercultural learning. The training promoted pedagogical approaches in dealing with cultures of remembrance related to the East-West-Conflict and it's consequenses in the present. The language of communication during the training was English.
