RELOAD - Knowledge refreshing and acquiring for employees in the DIY-branch

The DIY industry is characterised by a large number of untrained or low-qualified employees or workers from other industries. They have to process a constantly growing amount of (product) information and integrate it into professional skills and abilities. So there is a growing need for demand-oriented learning concepts. The project objective is to develop an e-learning approach to support employees not accustomed to learning or untrained or older employees in the DIY-industry by constantly and efficiently refreshing their knowledge and skills. For this purpose, workers can access a learning and knowledge platform containing short learning-units, so-called “microtraining units”, which are based on user-oriented learning methods. The learning platform is to be filled with multimedia learning units and integrated into daily work processes. The project also calls for the development of a model for creating “microtraining units”. This would allow producers in the DIY industry to process their product information or additional consulting information independently and implement it into the knowledge platform. The goals of RELOAD are based on blended learning, a hybrid concept combining e-learning and learning with support from experienced colleagues or supervisors functioning as coaches or mentors. This approach motivates employees to engage in learning in which they obtain competent assistance.
