Reillustrating Europe 2.0: Cartoons & graphics

The YE "Reillustrating Europe 2.0: Cartoons & graphics fighting racism and xenophobia" will talking about cartoons and graphics about stereotypes related to neighboring countries, a very fine line is drawn between what is still perceived to be funny and what becomes just the subversive way of spreading stereotypes, prejudices and discrimination. Through analyzing their own , participants will discover cultural relativism of humor and potential similarities between nations featuring pejorative connotations to specific social groups. In the first phase, participants will gather cartoons and graphics conerning their countries and neighbours, they will analyze and reflect them. Afterwards, they will come familiar with the charasteristics of cartoons and graphics drawing, what to expose and how to make these effective. They will transform written stereotypes and prejudices concerning particular countries in Europe into the painted one in order to show very clearly, how making cartoons can be the first phase of discriminating as well. The youth exchange, consisting of 36 people from six programme and neighboring European countries will be held in September 2013 in Prijedor
