REFLECT AND ACT! - Medienunterstützte Jugendbegegnung zu den Themen Alkohol, Nichtrauchen und Medienkonsum
Start date: Apr 1, 2015, End date: Oct 31, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

An ERASMUS+ supported conference workshop about the balance of new media was the start of a partnership between SUPRO - Workshop for the Prevention of Addiction (Austria) and the Loughgraney Youth Club (Ireland). Both organisations want to host together a youth exchange in Dornbirn/Austria called "KREATIVRAUSCH" (. (www.reflect.at). It gives adolescents the opportunity to think in a creative and individual way and reflecting on the topics like social media, alcohol & smoking and comparing, finding similarities and differences. The participants are learning from each other and from a fact finding mission, how do youth deal with these situations. They are going to compare and contrast, how social media, smoking and alcohol affect their mental wellbeing - either positively or negatively. At the same time, they learn how to use the media (film editing, taking pictures) and different methods of presentation. Not only does this help adolescents to deal with their experiences, but it also helps adults to better understand the adolescents' worlds and concerns. The project is aimed at young people aged between 15 and 23 years, living in Vorarlberg (Austria) and Clare (Ireland). We like to invite about 25 participants (including 2 adults) from the Loughraney Youth Club from Ireland and 25 participants (including a team of 4 media experts) from the Vorarlberg region in Austria. Description of the planned activities: Date: Friday, 31st of July 2015 to Friday, 7th of August 2015 Accomodation: Campground (3 nights) and youth hostel (4 nights) Workshops: We mix a workshop structure (film, photography, text & performance, interviews, ...) with outside activities (doing a creative research, documentary style, photo-walk) in small groups. These small groups are mixed with participants from Austria and Ireland with different skills and workshop-interests. Together they create a project in teamwork, and learn from peers. Each small group (5-6 participants) are coached by one (or sometimes two) adult(s) depending on the project idea. We would like to focus on the three topics "non-smoking", "alcohol" and "social media": So one or two of the team films, two members write and speak the off-voice text in German and English, one or two members take pictures of the process or works on his/her individual project. Together they create a film or a digital storytelling presentation.
