Reducing School Truancy Through Games and Cultural Activities

Through this project volunteers from Malta will be supported by Koperattiva Kummerċ Ġust so as to go and carry out activities with CESIE organisation in Palermo Italy. The volutneers will be staying in Palermo for up to 6 months and during their stay they will be working with the local staff of the organisation in the following projects: 1) Ubuntu – an intercultural playgroup; 2) Giardino di Madre Teresa – an intercultural kindergarten; 3) Santa Chiara – a project which hosts recently arrived immigrants, providing advice and orientation and childcare facilities; 4) Casa di tutte le genti - a project located in a difficult and poor area of Palermo (Zisa) supporting families in everyday situations and promoting the culture of integration and solidarity. 5) Centro Astalli - political refugees and migrants centre - located in the neighborhood of Ballarò which addresses mainly migrants, asylum seekers and refugees temporarily or permanently in the Province of Palermo, children, women, families and homeless. 6) Centro Agape - centre for homeless and socially excluded that also carry out Global Educational activities in the schools; 7) Libera - an association that promotes justice and educational programs regarding multicultural integration fighting the xenophobic thinking. The volutneers will be living with other volunteers from Malta and from around the world who are living with and working/volunteering for Cesie.
