Recreatie- en Animatie stage Ibiza
Start date: Jun 1, 2016, End date: Aug 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project "Recreation and Animation Internship - Ibiza" organized by the Department of Tourism of Hotelschool - GoTA 3 Hasselt focuses on the establishment of a foreign internship for students of the Se-n-Se year Tourism and Recreation. Throughout the entire school year, these students have a specific and practical training within certain subsectors (tour guide, Local Rep and animation). This course ends with a foreign work placement in which the acquired knowledge, skills and attitudes in practice will be applied. The internships are part of the international hotel chain PALLADIUM HOTEL GROUP. Our internship takes place exclusively on the island of Ibiza because of the well-developed contacts with the local management of this hotel chain. Due to its favorable geographical location of the internship, an effective mentoring can be organized. The internships will take place on two separate occasions. The first period will start on the 1st of June till the 23rd of June 2016 : 17 students + 2 teachers The second period will start on the 1st of May 2017 till the 23rd of June 2017 : 20 students + 3 teachersDuring the internship, students will be scheduled in both the day and evening entertainment and secondly, they are involved in maintaining the guest relations. To prepare this internship as well as possible, we organize a number of domestic and foreign study tours, workshops and guest lectures and multilingual practice exercises. This results in greater independence and self-confidence of the students. Since the guests and staff come from various European regions, knowledge of several languages (French, English, German, Spanish) is an important condition for the success of the placement.Furthermore, this project fits in perfectly with the vision of internationalization adopted by the school, in which the school invests in European projects that generate added value for the students’ education. For students enrolled in a ‘Se-n-Se’ course (a one-year specialization course), an internship abroad is mandatory seeing as they are required to experience a realistic, hands-on environment and strengthen their linguistic skills. The knowledge and skills acquired by the students, along with the international opportunities, will expand the job market for these students and open the door to job opportunities at a global level. At the same time, the project is also an opportunity for the school to optimize the course curriculum.
