Reconstruction Planning of Baja-Bezdan Canal (RPBBC)
Start date: Aug 31, 2010, End date: Feb 28, 2012 PROJECT  FINISHED 

The target area of this particular project is the Baja-Bezdán canal. The Baja-Bezdán canal starts at Baja with an outlet from the Sugovica and 44 kilometres to south connects to the Duna-Tisza canal. Its length is 33 km on the Hungarian territory and passes the administrative regions of 7 settlements. On the Serbian side it crosses further 3 settlements and also nature reserves on both sides. Aims: flood and drainage control, the allocation of water resources and the protection of the quality of water resources. The above mentioned cooperation occurs under the supervision of the Water Damage Prevention Subcommittee of the Hungarian-Serbian Water Management Committee. The canal and the present conditions of its structures are run-down and needs reconstruction ( the canal restrictedly ensures the tasks of the water renewal and water damage prevention).The project is organically linked to earlier Interreg IIIA works and supports objectives of the Water Framework Directive and Directive 2007/60/EC. Achievements: Reconstruction plans of the Baja-Bezdan canal has been elaborated. Also, new equipment useful for monitoring of the canal has been purchased.
