Re: ART TRUeSTory
Start date: Sep 1, 2014, End date: Aug 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project Re: ART TRUeSTory, being anticipated for two years, involves two secondary art schools, Střední uměleckoprůmyslová škola Bechyně (SUPŠ Bechyně) as a coordinating school and Escola Artística de Soares dos Reis (EASR) as a partner school. Both schools specialize similarly in the areas of studies, sharing together study specialisations as ceramics, multimedia, graphic and industrial design. Apart from that, both art schools reach the same historical roots, surprisingly enough both were found in 1884. As a result of congruent specialisations and ideas, we specify the following objectives of our project as the most relevant: improvement of the level of key competences and skills (art skills and competences), improvement of teaching and learning languages, enhancing international cooperation and relations, promoting EU democratic values, linguistic diversity, support of modernisation of education, increase of opportunities for learning mobility of young learners, promoting professionalism and entrepreneurship, support of non-formal and informal learning. The cooperation between schools aims to learn one from each other by means of art techniques and language skills (English, Portuguese, and Czech) and share together what the participants have achieved. The title of the project (Re: ART TRUeSTory) also reflects important key words for the activities involved: ART (as a means of work), RE (as a written, oral, art response to facts, information), TRUE story (reality or concepts; dream or invention, imaginary creation), THROUGH story (language as a tool for communication, storytelling as an important form of interpretation), TRUST (in the capacity of the other, personal experience, gaining self-confidence). The whole leitmotif is STORYTELLING/ constructing together the reality on the bases of knowledge, information collected, research, brainstorming, discussion. Therefore, project activities will occur in forms of teamwork workshops both during project meetings at schools, or as individual/ collective activities and steps throughout the school year at art and language classes. As for language results, the project activities support mainly: art techniques (graphics, multimedia, and ceramics), creativity, brainstorming, responsibility for the task, reciprocity, cooperation. As it concerns language activities, they will be developed in language workshops, group work language activities, storytelling, researches, presentations etc. A picture/story publication and a large exhibition in both schools are expected as final results, yet all outcomes will be also measured by (auto)evaluations, questionnaires, other types of assessments. Concerning the number and profile of participants, we would like to involve as many students as possible in frequent meetings (three participants’ meetings per school year, with six participants and two accompanying teachers for each mobility), especially due to the importance of sharing practical experience in workshops and exchanging art skills, procedures and techniques in person. We intend to involve 16-18 year-old students from study fields of ceramics, graphic design, and multimedia from both schools. The results and impacts are as follows: to start a new partnership between specialised art schools, social inclusion of students, enhanced involvement in language learning and linguistic diversity, supported cooperation in an international project, internationalisation, increased motivation for younger students for language learning, active participation in society, increased sense of initiative and entrepreneurship, positive attitude towards the European project and EU values and sharing examples of good practice.
