Considering the serious backlog of education in regard to the needs of contemporary society, the European development plan of Secondary School “Vela Blagoeva” focuses on putting the student in the centre of educational process, supports the development of their talents, interests and needs by the means of teachers’ professional development in order to provide modern and qualitative teaching. The goal of the project "Enhancing the European dimension of education at Secondary School “Vela Blagoeva” by the means of teachers’ professional development” is to acquire and apply innovative pedagogical practices through European cooperation and enhancing the international dimension of education and training at Secondary School “Vela Blagoeva”. In order to implement the project activities, six teachers, one principal and assistant of principal will be sent for training to host training organizations from Iceland, the UK and Spain to participate in short-term trainings, according to the identified fields, needing improvement, and the training needs of the teachers working in the indicated fields. Participants’ profiles include form-masters, English primary school teachers and teachers of foreign languages at primary and secondary stage, science teachers, newly appointed teachers, assistant principals and a principal, who have some experience from their participation in former international projects and clear aims for their future professional development in accordance with the strategy and the mission of Secondary School “Vela Blagoeva”. In addition, these participants have clearly defined the specific new skills they need, as well. All the participants in the mobilities are expected to improve their competencies, to acquire new methodologies and successfully implement them in teaching their subjects, in school curriculum, in methodological groupings and to distribute the training results, trying to cover all the potential beneficiaries in school and the school community. The expected results of the realized mobilities are as follows: improvement of the management capacity of international projects, working in a multicultural environment, encouraging teachers and encouraging further education and career development, giving teaching an European dimension and improving the pedagogical capacity of teachers community in school, implementation of innovative practices for managing stress, reducing aggression and violence, new skills for improving teacher-student relationships, modernization of the educational process, use of new methods that promote collaborative learning, improving foreign language learning by the means of a new methodology. Knowledge and instruments for improving students’ key competencies and skills development, that should provide students with realization on the labour market, will be acquired. New educational resources and materials for English teaching, science, intercultural education, methods to motivate students to obtain an educational degree and to prevent them from early school leaving will be applied. Teaching quality will significantly improve and student performance will improve as well, which will influence the school rating and the interest in school. The scope of influence will affect all the students, teachers and the parents community, since they will be direct and indirect beneficiaries and they will realize the European dimension of the whole educational process in Secondary School “Vela Blagoeva”. In the long term, the interest and motivation for further teacher trainings will be kept as well as the consideration of the teaching methods with the different learning styles of students; the understanding that together we study, work and live better and that everyone has something to give and to receive as a contribution to the social, cultural and linguistic diversity of Europe will be established.
