RAZEM ZBUDUJEMY EUROPĘ
Start date: Dec 31, 2015, End date: Dec 30, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

According to the project “Building Europe Together” there will be a group of twenty students supervised by two teachers leaving from Lubliniec to Cottbus, the Vocational Advancement Service of the Association of Construction Industry of Berlin – Brandenburg to attend vocational training programme. To complete it successfully we are going to hold a vocational German course which will raise the level of use of vocational language and enlarge essential vocabulary (students learn only vocational English at school). The project includes a group of 20 participants chosen from the students of the second and third years of Technical School, a part of Zespół Szkół Ogólnokształcąco-Technicznych (ZSOT). The Open Door Association which applies for the internship cooperates with the school. The project is a continuation of the previous cooperation within the project “Construction without Borders” with the Vocational Advancement Service of the Association of Construction Industry of Berlin – Brandenburg, which was satisfying for both partners and beneficiaries. The project is based on the needs of the students of ZSOT who come from villages or small towns. In the opinion of teachers, students need good mentors, a great deal of knowledge and they also need to get rid of provincial complex. This is required by the need for educating good professionals. They have to learn a profession, responsibility and team work. They have to open their mind, be self-confident and be ready to meet new challenges. The school conducted a survey of the demand for internship which met with great interest. Students want to experience something new and get Europass Mobility, which will give them a chance to find a job. There will also be two experienced teachers to take care of them. Before leaving the best and most determined students will be selected by a German teacher, a vocational subject teacher and a member of Association. They will take into consideration the students’ grades in vocational subjects and German, their attendance and behaviour and the opinion of form teachers. Students participating in the project will be able to acquire vocational competence in the form of workshop and operating construction machines. They will deepen their knowledge of masonry (constructing walls, columns, pillars, chimneys, lintels, arks etc.), construction techniques, dry wall and finishing, they will gain new experience in concrete mixes, making plaster and redecorations. In addition to this, they will learn how to cooperate and communicate with others, cope with stress in difficult situations, work in a team and deal with conflicts. They will also learn how to accept dissimilarities and be tolerant to others during their stay abroad. The project includes cultural programme as well, getting to know culture and traditions of Germany, visits to Frankfurt and Berlin. After completion of the internship students will get certificates with individual opinions about the trainees, BFW’s recommendations for future employers. They will also get Europass Mobility to confirm the acquired skills. There will be a description of activities and tasks done by the students as well as competences acquired during the stay in Germany. The information about the project will appear in the local school fair to promote the school. There will also be articles published in the local press, thanks to them we will spread the information about the importance of this kind of vocational training for the students’ development. The information will also show how important the internship is to meet the students’ expectations concerning their future profession as well as travelling and sightseeing. A presentation of the project will be a part of the Open Door Day, which will help even a bigger number of people get to know about the project itself and will create a better opinion about the school and the Open Door Association applying for the project. At the end of the project a conference presenting the summary of the internship will be held in the school. We will invite students and representatives of the local construction businesses to the conference. The information about it will appear on the project website, on local portals and will be sent to newspapers.
