Raising Intercultural Awareness (Participation at Immersion Course, Scotland)

Being a certified "School of Europe" with an international branch we value intercultural awareness. Therefore, we support all sensible activities which qualifiy our staff in this area. Ms Oldenburg has been working in the field of intercultural edcuation for more than 25 years. She has lived in the US and England and has supported exchange programmes for students ever since. While living in Japan she taught at the German School of Tokyo/Yokohama. We we would like to qualifiy Ms Oldenburg through the "One WeekImmersion Course Scotland" by LFEE Europe in her work as the exchange programme coordinator of our school. She is supposed to intensifiy international connections and to broaden her knowledge about intercultural education, focussing on Britain and Scotland especially. With this qualification she will be enabled to include her knowledge in her lessons as an English teacher and her work as the exchange programme coodinator. As an international school we value this work . In the long course we would like to qualify our students to live and work confidently in a globalized world, which is supported by this Erasmus+-Programme. Since the last 5 years Mrs. Kolb is the coordinator for us as an European school. Therefore she is also a member of the school development group. As well, she was project manager of our last Comenius project and is also foreign language coordinator at the Hessian Ministry of Education ( HKM ) . She has been involved in a project called Peak I ( English from class 1 ) and is still one of our responsible persons for the Language Portfolio at Schuldorf. We want Mrs. Kolb to participate in the Language Link British Culture Course for further qualifications with a specific view/ aim on interculturalism in teaching English and in doing/ teaching portfolio work. With the acquired knowledge she should be further specialized to integrate intercultural education/ language experience into her teaching as an English teacher and for being responsible for the portfolio work as well as our future Comenius / Erasmus + projects. We see ourself as a European School which hast interculturalism as an important part of our school profile.
