Radical Action Combating Indifference & Supporting Migrants
Start date: Aug 30, 2012,

The Mediterranean Sea has been known since the dawn of time as a place where cultures and continents meet. The island’s position in the middle of the Mediterranean means that it has been a passing port and new home for a lot of migrants. This clash of continents can be good, and can be bad. Right in the centre of the sea, on a tiny rock of a nation called Malta, the team at Y.E.U Malta decided to turn the bad into good. A training course was held in the Marsaxlokk Youth Activity Centre (owned by Agenzija Zaghzagh), between the 19th and 26th of October 2012, titled R.A.C.I.S.M. (Radical Action Combating Intolerance & Supporting Migrants). Twenty two participants came from different countries, and participants from each country were encouraged to share different experiences from their countries. Countries involved were; Georgia, Ukraine, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Romania, Italy, Tunisia, Egypt, Portugal, Malta and Bulgaria. Throughout the training course, the participants were encouraged through informal activities, to analyse issues of human rights, as well as various issues that different types of migrant groups across Europe face as they try to deal with daily life. The objective of this training course was to empower and motivate young people to understand the important of tolerance, inclusion and diversity and to use voluntarism as tool of inclusion. This was possible through funding of €24990 supported by the Youth in Action Program, Action 3.1, with the help of the Maltese national agency E.U.P.A. which helped a lot with all the technical difficulties that arose during the preparation and implementation of project. We also would like to thank the visa section of the police department which helped us with the commissioning of visa, Agenzija Zaghzagh for providing us with the place and also Marsa Open Centre, Movement Graffiti and S.O.S. Malta for helping us into some of the sessions. There was no changes, except for the location due to financial issues.
