Qualitätssteigerung des Fremdsprachenunterrichts und Förderung der Schülermotivation durch Lehrkompetenz unter Einbeziehung bilingualen und fächerübergreifenden Unterrichts
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

Due to the growing importance of English as lingua franca, as well as other languages in the context of European co-operation; our students should be able to acquire the necessary skills and consolidate them effectively, in order to communicate with other European partners in their professional and private lives in a foreign language. Our project aims to improve the quality of English teaching with new ideas and methods, and to increase the proportion of bilingual education; thus increasing student motivation, while at the same time inspiring and encouraging other teachers. Our school is planning to send three very dedicated and experienced teachers, who teach English, Russian, Arts and Music at a secondary level, and are always looking to further develop their teaching skills for the benefit of our students and school. Our selected structured teacher training courses, "Creative activities and motivating materials for the secondary classroom" and "Content and language integrated learning course", include workshops for improving language skills, learning about new teaching methods, materials, and ideas. Regional aspects, such as educational visits of various institutions and guided city-tours, play an additional role. Especially in the latter course, bilingual and cross-curricular lessons are to be developed, presented and discussed during the lesson sequences. Our project is carried out in collaboration with two prestigious language schools. These schools have a good reputation and offer many years of high-quality, EU-funded courses with highly qualified teachers, who in turn cover the topics of our school project, and simultaneously take care of the accommodation for the participants. Even before the preparation of teachers, there are discussions; and after completion, an evaluation both on the part of schools, as well as by the Erasmus + program takes place. It is expected that students acquire new skills, ideas and materials, and bring these to their teaching and thus increase student motivation. At the same time, these teachers pass on their knowledge and experience to other colleagues, who are not only from their own school. Through contact with colleagues from other European countries, further co-operation will be sought; for example, in the form of school partnerships. These activities will contribute to the long term development of quality education and encourage other colleagues to take on new challenges.
