Qualitätsoffensive im Rahmen europäischer Zusatzqualifikationen
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

The city of Hamelin and the region around host a lot of medium-sized enterprises, which are strongly export-oriented and which play an important role in their field of business. Accordingly, future employees are expected to present professional and intercultural skills as well as language and communicative competences. Students of our school have higher chances on the labour market if they have already acquired the competences required. HLA as a vocational school specializing in business studies tries to meet these requirements which is not only present in its title Europaschule granted by the ministry of Lower Saxony, but also in the achievements concerning additional qualifications. For part time students we offer the certificate “Europakaufmann” which is strongly demanded by apprentices as well as by enterprises. In our high school department we offer the certificate “European Business Baccalaureate Diploma”, EBBD. All the different types of schools regularly, at least annually, offer European projects and exchanges with our partner schools abroad. The objectives of this project are to enhance teachers’ European competences in all areas, to extend skills and abilities concerning methodical and didactic concepts, to improve foreign language skills and to organize new partnerships and support existing partnerships. The partnership should not only include schools but other partners like companies, chamber of commerce etc. in the region. The project is integrated into existing projects and also complements those. The Comenius project “Beyond our Borders” enables students to live, work and study in Europe and profit from European programmes. The Erasmus project “Learners’ and Teachers’ Mobility” opens up opportunities to work abroad during their apprenticeships for a couple of weeks. Teachers are given the opportunity to attend trainings courses abroad as well as to work in one of the partner schools within the field job-shadowing. The mobilities applied for continue and also expand these programmes especially in the school’s area of full time education, also focusing on the school’s programme EBBD. The project aims at teachers who want to participate in HLA’s international curricula and to enhance their competences in this field – be it in developing lesson plans and modules for bilingual lessons or in conducting intercultural trainings and exchanges. The planned mobilities comprise the development of new partnerships and the fostering of existing ones. HLA teachers will spend time at our partner schools to create lesson plans together with colleagues of the respective school and will also extend our cooperation via eTwinning. Dealing with various topics for lessons in Business studies and Foreign Language will improve their command of the language. With this HLA meets the requirements needed in a region like Weserbergland with its medium-sized companies. New partnerships will be created by attending course in International and Intercultural Project Management. Teachers’ trainings will be publicized in HLA and teachers will be selected according to the requirements. After the mobility results will be evaluated and disseminated. We mainly aim at the development of new lesson plans suitable for EBBD, which combine intercultural aspects and support the students’ skills in foreign languages. The organization of European projects and exchanges will profit from the experiences teachers make. In the long run, the profile of HLA as Europaschule will be strengthened. Students will be enabled not only to see the advantages of the EU but also use this knowledge for their professional careers. In order to achieve this, well-educated and highly motivated teachers are absolutely necessary.
