PUPPETS and MEMORIES

The youth exchange PUPPETS and MEMORIES Crafting Europe, Sharing Cultures, will be held in Melilli (SR), Sicily, ITALY and will be 14 days long. The project will host 30 participants from Italy, Czech Republic, Spain, France and Portugal. The theme is art and culture as tool to re-cover the cultural heritage, to create communication among targets with different ages and life experiences, to intervene in the outskirts, to involve young people coming from European suburbs and at risk of marginalisation and to make them developing skills and cross-cultural competences. The aim of the project is to recover and preserve the active memory, to use the cultural heritages to facilitate the intergenerational dialogue and to promote intercultural exchange, active citizenship and social inclusion. Though the discover of the different cultures and the values they bear, it’s possible to better understand the dynamics of the present, to raise awareness between young people and to reflect on the real meaning of “being active citizens”. The implemented activities are 5 different workshops on: cultural differences and ICL to promote social inclusion and youth participation; story telling: presentation a of the old stories, analysis of the text and creation of a collective plot that will be represented with puppets; theatre: how to act on the stage and to manoeuvre puppets; recycle: how to re-use waste in a creative way; puppet creation and construction. Three study visits will be organized, at the end one street puppets parade and one final performance with puppets will be realized. During the exchange it will be proposed the interactive methodologies of the non formal education, which aims at exchanging experiences and knowledge in an horizontal approach, valorising the differences and stimulating the individual letaning assessment.
