Pupils for integration and inclusion in the spirit of european citizenship
Start date: Sep 1, 2014, End date: Aug 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The partnership of our four schools has chosen "Pupils for integration and inclusion in the spirit of European citizenship - UNITAS" as project title. From each school 15 pupils aged 14 to 16 years as well as two teachers will participate in each project. Because of the on-going refugee crisis in the EU and the ratification of the UN convention concerning the rights of disabled people integration and inclusion are/ have become current challenges in society that massively affect everyday life in school as well. Each of the partners has useable experienced this (phenomenon) himself at local institutions. Therefore, according to the goals mentioned below and in order to improve and put the European idea into practice within the meaning of a peaceful and unbiased cooperation and friendship among the nations, pupils and teachers should be given the opportunity to gain their own experiences with integration and inclusion in everyday life at school and in society, to present these to others and to broaden their horizons through mutual exchange and realizing concrete projects together so that they can use and apply the new-found experience to the benefit of both the school community and the school environment respectively. This immediate implementation as well as the knowledge resulting from it should/will be made accessible to the public and third parties/others – a flagship project for the solution of the European integration crisis which examples how solutions can be found and realized. This project explicitly aims at making all of its results accessible to a big part of the public in various ways. Potential participants with a decided interest are to be appropriately supported and advised in order to implement theoretical or practical contents achieved through us into their specific environment. Based on the following planned outcomes: * Permanently accessible pool of ideas for practical implementation of the topics integration and inclusion in school lessons * Project-related website presenting the results of transnational project meetings and school project work * Transnational dictionary in German, English, Polish and Hungarian * Project interim report * New / added education and social curricula based on the issues of inclusion / integration. * Film to document the work concerning integration * Creation and design of new, appropriate play and learning opportunities * Final report * A project presentation for students, teachers and parents of the project partners and third parties the following objectives and the associated effects on all participants in the project are to be achieved: * Getting to know the different regions, their cultural differences and similarities as well as becoming acquainted with different school systems and their varying possibilities of implementation of the topic within their social and educational curricula according to each countries general curriculum. * Broadening of a mutual interest and understanding through personal contact and a mutual exchange of experiences in terms of the European unification process * Reducing social and political barriers and prejudices and thus creating more open-mindedness in pupils * Promoting (individual) voluntary work and showing dedication as a basic element, most notably in and for one’s school environment * Pupils should experience advantages and possibilities as well as problems through personal contact with institutions and those concerned and this way recognize the complexity of the/each topic. It is a conscious effort to both escape the one-dimensional view of the “integration crisis” and integrate children with physical or mental limitations without ignoring these issues * Acquiring various methodical competences such as interviewing, doing research, presentation techniques, artistic design, empirical investigations, acquisition of language, and more within the framework of methodical curricula of participating schools * Psychological aspects: Reduction of fears / prejudices, boosting curiosity and motivation * Cultural dispute with the main topic and associated issues: Art, theatre and music as a way of communication and acceptance in each respective society * Extensive evaluation on a regular basis * Social competences: ability to also cooperate in changing teams (e.g. with unfamiliar partners), ability to communicate, enhanced readiness to help others, moral courage, respect and tolerance * Career-related / professional skills: (official) “Qualipass”-Certificate of the Land Baden-Württemberg which confirms active participation in the project, the European Mobility Certificate, and others
