Public Health Training in Social Diseases

The main aim of the project is to create a vocational training and learning programme to improve the competencies and skills of professionals working in the health and social care sectors. The project's specific aim is to offer up-to-date training on social diseases, such as tuberculosis and HIV-AIDS, in an effort to combat their spread and effectively treat these diseases. Project partners will analyse the training needs of professionals in the health and social care sectors in their countries with respect to social diseases. A training programme will be designed by the project partners to address the identified training needs. Guidance notes will be further developed to assist professionals in making the right training choices. Modules will centre around two themes: communicable diseases & prevention and quality management in public health & social care. A series of guides for specialists and a ‘glossary of diseases’ will also be developed by the partners to accompany the training modules. The training programme itself will be delivered using ICT and will be piloted with potential end-users. Training material will be delivered flexibly through a variety of short intensive courses and via specialist 'courses on demand' for different end users. The training content and modes of delivery will be further refined considering any feedback from the pilot phase. The developed programme will be assessed by experts and organisations throughout the course of the research. As a final dissemination goal, it is intended that the final training programme will be harmonised across the partner countries and delivered as part of the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS).
