Our school, IPIA “Mario Orso Corbino” in Partinico, is a vocational high school which counts about 700 students and 80 teachers. It is not far from Palermo, it offers different branches of study: electronic, electric, mechanic, fashion, wellness. Our students come from different towns in the province of Palermo. They come from economically and socially disadvantaged families with a medium-low cultural level. We intend to participate in a teaching training course for teachers on the Boal’s Methodology in Education from 23rd to 29th July 2015 in Croatia because our school feels the need of a healthier and safer social system and we are sure that the relations among students and school environment have an important impact on their grown and well-being. We believe our teachers need to learn new techniques in order to manage conflicts, dialogue and passivity in the classes. A part physical mobility, it will be necessary that we activate virtual mobility before and after the training course, in this way we will be able to put in practice the collaboration and the exchange among different European countries. The staff which we intend to involve will be made up of 6 teachers and its composition will be various: the coordinator of European projects, two language teachers, three teachers of different subjects with a good knowledge of basic English. The coordinator of European projects will be the responsible for designing the project and eventual future projects. The English teachers will be responsible for communication with the all the participants. A teacher with informatics competence will be responsible for the support to the other with Etwinning. A teacher of technical or scientific subject and a teacher of humanistic subject will collaborate together with the coordinator for designing projects. The main purpose is to improve the competences of the staff above all in terms of communication, leadership, problem solving, programming and managing, collaboration and language competences. The objectives of our project are • Learning new innovative methods which make school able to give to the students the instruments for their grown, well-being and participation in society; • Understanding how theatrical techniques and methods can be incorporated in the school lessons; • Knowing Boal’s methodology as means to solve conflicts in class; • Improving the awareness of feelings, sensations, thoughts through the individual and collective perception; • Learning techniques and exercises in order to externalize internalized conflicts and address apathy and passivity into participation and collaboration; • Facilitating interdisciplinary; • Organizing activities based to a holistic approach; • Improving the use of English language; • Combating school failure. Etwinning will be useful for the preparation and the follow-up. Etwinning will be used for a questionnaire as preparation of the course in order to know from the specific background of the participants. They will publish a presentation of their school organizations and their professional and cultural context, in this way it is possible to get a preliminary knowledge of the group participating in the course. In the same way the host country will publish useful information for all teachers participating in the cultural experience. In the follow-up they will deepen the themes of the course and they will be encouraged to publish the materials showing what they are using in terms of ideas, lesson plans, projects, photos, videos and so on, in this way they will contribute to create a resource of educational transnational bank which will be able to be used by others.
