‘Promoting quality of teaching and learning through empowering teachers' ICT competences’ is a project coming from Dimotiko Scholeio Pano Polemidion-Karmiotissas, in Cyprus. Dimotiko Scholeio Pano Polemidion-Karmiotissas is a primary school. 1.) Specific difficulties concerning organization’s students (especially for minorities with disadvantaged backgrounds); 2.) the perspective of: a) promoting equal opportunities, b) reinforcing the quality of the offered education, c) adopting more innovative and student-centered pedagogical approaches; 3.) the need to increase the capacities, attractiveness and the international dimension of the school etc, have led the organization to establish this project. In order school to meet its needs, it is strongly believed that the biggest priority is reinforcing organizations teachers’ competences; by updating their knowledge. The project focuses on enhancing ICT teachers’ competences. A prospective fulfilling of this project will also modernize and internationalize the school's mission. The organization is planning to send 6 teachers (6 out of 22) since school unit really wants to achieve the objectives planned for the next school year. (The organization wants to educate a significant numbers of teachers because by this way school maximizes the chances of succeeding its development plans). Some of the organization’s plans for the European mobility are: • to familiarize school staff with the potential of various web tools which can be used in curricular teaching and project work; • to make teachers use the tools creatively in their everyday teaching; • to develop and disseminate innovative pedagogical methods in using web based tools; • to promote a new way of producing, obtaining and applying knowledge effectively. It is expected that after the completion of the main activity (staff training abroad), the participants will increase the use of ICT for teaching effectively, engage in collaborative projects with other schools with the use of the web tools they acquired through this training, develop web based evaluation methods, become more competent and skillful in using web based teaching tools, produce more creative educational material, use more attractive pedagogical methods, and become more capable of adapting their plans and practices to meet their individual students learning needs. All these, will have a direct, positive and immediate impact on the target group (mainly students). The organization has already found an appropriate partner to meet its needs via E-twinning Platform, the Teachers Training Institute. Teachers Training Institute, (i.e. the receiving institute) is in Poland. As for the training course, it mainly aims to introduce ICT tools to participants and enhance their ICT skills. Its duration is 10 days. Project participants will be teachers of the organization with limited ICT skills, willing to empower their ICT competences, and willing to share new knowledge with their colleagues after the training. General and specific criteria will be set for the selection of the participants and the two partners of the project will cooperate on preparing the participants for the mobility abroad. Practical and logistic matters of the project will be organized by the sending organization. After the training, the sending organization expects that the course will produce high-quality learning outcomes for the participants and will reinforce the capacities and international scope of itself. Creating materials such as a Bank source and a website, exchanging information or experience with other colleagues coming from different countries during the training, broadening the participants horizons, broadening understanding of practices, policies and systems in education will be some of the potential impact and benefits of the project. In fact, project’s results will have the potential to be mainstreamed into the wider educational policy of school’s region and produce a regular and effective communication between partners on an ongoing basis. For instance, in order to find ways to maximize the training impact, a website for the organization will be constructed, targeted written material such as reports, press releases will be released, meetings with local authorities and parents’ associations will be held . As for impact assessment: preliminary evaluation, ongoing evaluation, final evaluation, outcome evaluation, self-evaluation will be accomplished by using research tools as questionnaires (before and after the training and at the end of the whole program in June 2015), interviews, observations, a survey among students about ICT in teaching and learning, discussions, self-evaluation teachers' reports , pre and post-test in order to measure the impact. Consequently, promoting organizations’ future goals will finally fulfill its priorities to become a modern, internationalized organization.
