Projeto ACTIVO 2.0
Start date: May 1, 2016, End date: Aug 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

The EVS project "Projeto ACTIVO 2.0" is a continuation of the EVS project ACTIVO which started in autumn 2015 as a partnership between the three NGOs: Teatro Metaphora - associação de Amigos das Artes (Portugal), Center for European Initiatives (Ukraine) and Scambieuropei (Italy). Now the organizations deepen their cooperation and follow the activities and initiatives started by the first group of the volunteers. ACTIVO 2.0 involves 2 volunteers from Ukraine, 2 volunteers from Italy and 1 volunteer from Portugal. The project activities will take place in Câmara de Lobos, Portugal over the period of 9 months (1 July 2016 - 31 March 2017) and in Sumy, Ukraine during 6 months (1 July - 31 December 2016 ). By inviting European volunteers to work with the local youth in Câmara de Lobos, we hope to continue developing solidarity and cross border relationships between Madeiran youth and their far European neighbours. And sending a Portuguese volunteer to the partner organization in Ukraine will allow to strenghten links between our youth and partners. Planned activities: theatre, art, music, film, creativity, handcraft but also discussions, debate clubs, ecological projects are just a few examples of the diverse ACTIVO 2.0 program aiming to merge art and culture into the lives of young people. Our aim is to create a self sustainable community of young people in a cultural and creative oriented environment in which they can interact with each other, share ideas and opinions, learn from each other and develop their own creative projects. Furthermore, the project wants to address cultural differences by intercultural communications. The participation of European volunteers is therefore essential in the project as their presence will support conversations and will encourage discussions to create a mix of opinions from different cultural backgrounds. Secondly, participating in and leading workshops involving local school youth focused on promoting European values, active citizenship, civic responsibility, community service, teaching leadership skills to youth and providing them with knowledge about EU, what it means to be European citizen; promotion of cultural diversity and breaking stereotypes about the home country of the volunteer in the local community; promotion of voluntary service among local youth; strengthening the role of Teatro Metaphora in the local community development. Planned Methods: practical workshops and preparation of theatre plays; indoor and outdoor ecological activities; leading discussion groups and intercultural workshops; workshops on EU issues, project design, management and implementation; facilitating shared information and collaboration between organizations; conducting native language clubs; development of future EVS opportunities for Portuguese youth.
