The nursing Institute of Vannes gradually develops a strategy of modernization and internationalization : new premisis and teaching equipment in 2013 on a university campus meeting the requirements of quality of training for auxillary nurses. A clinical laboratory and a state-of-the-art computer room allow the implementation of innovative projects and current events : the distance training and the simulation practice.
The educational project integrates the individualization of the training by an educational follow-up and a personalised clinical placement. For the underachieving students, an individual and collective educational reinforcement as well as coaching are proposed.
The Institute has a strong experience in the support of the learners in their project of clinical placement abroad (approximately 200 departures since 2008). The auxillary nurses, during the periods class/clinical placement, , can do one clinical placement for 3 weeks abroad. Every year, 2 auxillary nurses can benefit from a departure to a European country. The institutional objectives are the sharing and the respect for the culture of health care, the optimization of professional skills by the reflexivity, the questioning of professional practices with the objectives of improvement of the quality and also the discovery of another health system. In some cases, the communication in another language is favored.
The auxillary nurses participate with the healthcare professionals in the management of patients according to their skill level. They collaborate with the nurses in the care of support of everyday life and in the cleanliness of the environment of the person. They participate in the educational activities and of prevention to optimize the health, or the keeping of a balance of life.
The followed methodology is :
Previous to the departure : - contractualisation of European partnership by the coordinator
- Information of the auxillary nurses as for the terms and the modalities of mobility
- registration in an approach project (individual or collective)
- formalisation and validation of the project of clinical placement
-signature of the convention for clinical placement
During the internship : - weekly contact contractualised with the auxillary nurses
After the internship : - assessment and sharing of experiences with the other learners
The impact expected from this project is to improve the medical professional best practice and to promote the European mobility. In the long term, the dynamics in term of open-mindedness, of interculturality will allow to develop a real solidarity within the European space.
