To balance school, friendships, family and hobbies a lot of discipline and the right attitude is needed. A well-balanced lifestyle is the goal. In today’s society it is a challenge for many people to achieve this balance. To create a basis for inner and outer balance a mind-and value-oriented lifestyle, health, the social environment and work in school should be in line. A self-determined balance of life can be a sustainable source for energy and success. If one reads it again and changes the word “school” to “job” or “profession” one will identify the meaning of this project for the future of the students. It is a challenge for each individual and for the whole system of school to keep this balance. With our project we want to focus on finding and keeping this balance. Because of that exercises for stress relaxation are as important as sporting activities.Together we want to learn about and do well-known and completely new kinds of sports. We prefer those sports where a balance between activity and rest plays an important role.More and more students, teachers and parents feel overstrained and drained. We want to work on that phenomenon, search for explanations and together with the students we want to think about how one can arrange its power better. Together we want to find and explore possibilities to create islands of peace and rest for the individual and to recharge the batteries.Surveys will give us an overview to the distribution of stress and relief in the student’s life. These will be done and evaluated by students of all participating partners. Thus, a good basis for the presentations, discussions and workshops that will take place when the partners meet is given.The findings will be documented amongst others in the school magazines and on the project website. Collective sporting activities play a big role in the student’s free time. In sports one can learn how important tactical breaks can be for the physical development. Sport as a compensation is also important. The participants shall do sports together and think about the sense and diversity of sport. Because we come from totally different landscapes the communication and exchange here will be especially interesting. We want to examine how different work can be arranged, how different the attitude to work can be, how stress can arise differential and how versatile it can be. All participants can benefit from the results for their future (working) life. Of course the topics “cultural activities”, “life in nature”, “food” and “social together” have a great influence on our “work-life-balance”. They will be included in our activities from different perspectives at the different partner schools. For a sustainable education and for an effective working an everlasting concentration on these topics is inevitable. Thus, this project has a benefit for all participants (students, teachers, parents, administration). → Relief through exercise/sport: An effective weapon against stress is motion. Every kind of exercise especially in nature is an excellent possibility to work off stress. Because of that we want to focus on sport and exercise. We want to try out exercises for relaxation that can be learnt at short notice and document the outcome: decongestion exercises, perception exercises, attentive listening, breathing exercises, telling and massage.There are teachers at our schools who want to work with their students in the long run on autogenic training, progressive muscle relief, yoga, Tai Chi and mediation. Dancing is highly effective too. It improves the perception of the body, trains and reliefs a lot of muscles and above all is fun. Balance in sport - We know that in sport a well-balanced relation between activity and regeneration increases the achievement potential. We want to work on that by doing sports together and trying out new sports. Trendy sports shall have a relation to the particular region and represent the topic balance [slack line, (dirt- or mountain-) biking, hiking, kayak, rowing]. → Relief through creativity: Activity must not lead to stress. There are other activities than motion and sport that can relief us. Many of these activities are highly creative like the artistic designing, making music or listening to music.We want to try what is possible in school. There are alternative strategies like: Creating a positive atmosphere, mental training, positive stress, breaks.
