Project Stop
Start date: Feb 1, 2014,

Project STOP is the result of hearts and minds coming together with a focus on promoting human trafficking awareness and education and prevention of this horrible act within our communities. Our team is committed to the highest level of dedication, skill, technology, knowledge, and experience to help the victims of human trafficking. We aim to support and develop new human trafficking awareness campaigns within Malta:• We are committed to train others, work with and cooperate with law enforcement and authorities in procedures of combating human trafficking and understanding and safeguarding the human rights of the victims.• We are committed to promote justice with the victims of these crimes, and seek ways to stop traffickers and its demand. We will focus on hosting events within this project within the following three areas:1. The creation of awareness on human trafficking involving design, printing and distribution of flyers and pamphlets and the setting up of a web site dedicated to human trafficking issues. The idea of this project is to cultivate a stronger collective conscious on the subject of human trafficking. People must become aware that human trafficking is modern day slavery and a zero tolerance policy to the subject is a must. Through this project we shall try to bring this subject to people's attention, we want people to not hesitate when contacting the authorities if they suspect human trafficking is being conducted and to believe that this act shall not be tolerated under any circumstance. In order to achieve this, people must be aware of what exactly human trafficking entails, to be able to identify and understand it. This is what led us to understand that what is needed is also more awareness which we shall be achieving through the publication of material, the web site and the workshop and more importantly through the narration of people's own experiences. 2. Half a day workshop on human trafficking bringing together important stakeholders. A report recently issued by the Council of Europe stressed on the fact that Malta does not have the sufficient infrastructure laid down to deal with the subject of human trafficking. By bringing stake holders and civil society representatives active in this field together, we hope that we shall set down the necessary groundwork, while creating a suitable networking opportunity for future more concrete action to be taken in relation to this subject. 3. Performing Arts event showcasing human trafficking. Music has long been a popular medium through which to pass on the necessary message. One of the most predominant problems locally is the lack of integration between asylum seekers and locals. Barely does one get to hear the terrific ordeals they have had to go through, the blatant exploitation and abuse that enshrouds an intricate criminal mechanism that profits off poverty. In spite of all this we believe that through music, such cultural barriers may start to be dismantled and people will at least be more attentive with regards to the lives of people having different cultural contexts to to their own. All the above activities will be fully undertaken and executed in their entirety by a team youth members within the organization under our supervision just to ensure compliance to guide lines.
