Project management for cross-cultural exchange projects in Europe
Start date: Oct 12, 2014, End date: Oct 11, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

As a school interested in European connections the “Ederseeschule Herzhausen” would like to start an international project with other European schools. The encouragement of physical activity as well as healthy eating is an important assignment for us. By supporting physical activity and healthy eating we aim for a conscious and healthy change in students’ lifestyles whose physical activity and eating habits aren’t ideal. The best way to achieve this is by prevention and directly connecting with affected people. Because of the diverse lifestyles and differing social histories, a country’s cultural background should be taken into consideration. A common goal on a European level could be to develop a project with the title “Health promotion within European schools”. By participating in intercultural further educational courses, participants of the project can connect with other European schools. This would enable them to organize a student exchange or “E-Twinning” projects. At joint project meetings students and teachers get to know different cultural habits and learn from each other by planning project activities together. Various kinds of competences and skills can be acquired and extended within this. By including as many subjects as possible (e.g. biology, physical education, social studies, etc.) many teachers and students will be addressed. Participants of the courses are motivated to extend their competences and language proficiency. As promoters we are willing to spread the European idea at our school. These courses will increase intercultural competence in order to implement this in our lessons at our school. The benefit of a European cooperation can be described by the following aspects: -This aimed project should increase the awareness of a health-supporting lifestyle at the cooperating schools. -The understanding for the diversity and the values of European cultures will be supported at the participating schools. -The participating teachers and students gain a lot more intercultural competence by working with different European nations. -The connection motivates the students and the teachers to work on their foreign language skills and knowledge. -Within such a project and within the extension of competences the students are able to gain a further understanding as well as awareness for a healthy lifestyle.
