ProGuide2 Further United Development of Key Professions for Visually Impaired Persons

Further united development of key professions for visually impaired persons within the Proguide2The word Proguide2 represents the second professional guide to accessible technical solutions, and useful information, for the target groups within the branch for visually impaired. The Proguide 2 project is highly a project with a lot of transfer of earlier received technical innovations, on some key techniques for visually impaired sound engineers, musicians and producers. The project has addressed many urgent problems for these 3 key professions. The overall biggest aim was to combine the technical ideas, with knowledge of how to be able to establish and keep a large number of steady jobs for the group visually impaired in these key professions all over EU. Our goal was also to establish fundamental improvements for proper education, and in the process of lifelong learning for the target professions. The impact of the project has a label of carrying the technical ideas through serious discussions and gathering the concrete plans for improving the possibilities for the target groups. Our partnership represents top craft educators, companies in the branch of technical aids for visually impaired people, authorities, and interest organisations. All the members in the partnership have a long international background, in participation in various international projects and discussions. The group has taken a interdisciplinary aproach to the questions, which lead to better possibilities for the visually impaired end users. The goals for the project was defined as: transferring earlier received technical experiences into several concrete products. 2 adapted general solutions for editing and processing sound in a professional environment, 2 adapted editors for processing and editing sounds in keyboards, synthesizers, and effect devices. A hard and software package for making scores available for easy reading for visually impaired musicians. Then controllable in a new way with an alternative innovative interface. Our experiences from developing new and innovative techniques for building complex Braille and speech oriented interfaces in the previous project Proguide, have been used and transferred into new and concrete solutions. Brochures and presentation materials for various types of presentations for different audiences have been produced. 20 workshops for covering different aspects and impacts of the professions have been arranged. Further development of the Proguide web page has taken place.A significant valorisation part with participation in well-known and visited trade shows and conferences has also been included in the project. The Proguide2 project has actively worked for harmonising the possibilities of the visually impaired persons in these key professions, in various countries inside EU. In that perspective the project has demonstrated properly working solutions for these professions, to be able to brake down barriers of bad attitudes. Our work will definitely show good and well working alternatives, which can help in that perspective even after the project is over.
