Progresser dans la connaissance des pays européens pour améliorer la connaissance et la conscience européenne des élèves
Start date: Jun 1, 2016, End date: May 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

The school project proposed by the primary school in Saint Anthème, a town located in isolated highlands, is to develop a taste for desire among students to discover other European countries. This will be achieved by motivating students to use TICE programming and by engaging them in research on other European countries. Contacts and exchanges between foreign partners using eTwinning will be prioritized. A mobility grant for a teacher will provide for an important cultural awareness among the school’s students. The linguistic competences of the teacher asking for the mobility grant will be improved, and consequently, will raise the students’ competences. The teacher will have more confidence teaching with a higher level of English. She will progressively use the English language to conduct non-language related sessions like physical education or art.In addition, this teacher will initiate a pedagogy that is more adapted to students, through the use of new resources and teaching techniques. She will integrate TICE programming in her teaching to develop exchanges with European partners. She will also create resource documents for her colleagues at the school and in the area, which will take the form of lesson progressions adapted to different school levels, storybooks, songs, or other original materials that will be useful for schoolchildren. The teacher will become a resource person in her school as well as for other secondary schools in her academic region. The relationships with the secondary school will be notably reinforced by the strong tie between CM/6ième, and the results of the students’ English test will be paid a great deal of attention. The students’ results from departmental evaluation at the end of CM2, which allow for the verification of an A1 English level according to CECRL, will be directly monitored. These results should improve. We will also study the participation of students in class with a speaking chart. Their involvement and motivation in classes should be strengthened. The knowledge of other European countries, and their lifestyles and traditions, will be helpful for students in their future lives. This international awareness should contribute to building a feeling of European citizenship within each student. On a longer term, the ability to have a resource person who is aware of the international sphere will be an important added value for the perception of the school in its surroundings. This point of view will concern not only school superiors but also local partners, parents of students or local authorities. The cultivation of a wider European awareness, developed through eTwinning, is an important development criterion for the establishment.
