Programování aplikací pro Android pro žáky SPŠ a SOU Pelhřimov
Start date: Sep 15, 2016, End date: Sep 14, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project will commence on 15 September 2016 and will be completed in one year. A group of 17 of our students, accompanied by one supervisor, will take part in a two-week internship. Some of the participants will still be underage at the time of the internship, which is why the group must be accompanied by one of our teachers. Students of the third year of the Information Technology study programme, who are already familiar with the basics of Information Technology will participate. The internship itself will take place in March 2017 in the Spanish city of Sevilla.“Developing Android Applications for the Students of SPŠ a SOU Pelhřimov (Secondary Technical School and Vocational School Pelhřimov)” is a project prepared in cooperation with an intermediary organization, euroMind, and a Spanish host organization, Colegio Salesiano San Pedro. The project has been prepared in accordance with the European Credit system for Vocational Education and Training (ECVET) in order to secure internships for our students in the domain of information technology, focusing on one of the most frequently used mobile phone platforms – Android. Both partner organizations have international experience regarding the key areas relevant for our project – arranging accommodation, meals, transport around the city, monitoring, and most importantly good-quality content of the internship, guaranteed by professionals with a lot of experience. The ability to develop an actual Android application is a highly specific skill within information technology and one that is highly valued on the job market. The students will learn to develop their own applications with the help of pre-prepared model solutions and exercises and will gradually define the individual features of their applications. The internship will be concluded with students’ presentations of their applications, where they will not only talk about the technical solution, but also justify its benefits for the target customer. The whole internship will be conducted in English, so apart from passively paying attention and grasping the assignments and theory, the students will have to actively communicate and deliver their presentation at the end.Project evaluation and monitoring will be in progress over the period of the internship, at its close, and even after its conclusion. The units of learning outcomes have been specified, and they will be monitored and assessed by methods devised in accordance with the assessment guidelines. A tutor from the Spanish school as well as our supervising teacher will participate in the assessment. The learning outcomes will be documented in the Europass Mobility Certificate. The internship will be recognized as part of the students’ study. In the project we intend to use the contract documents in accordance with the ECVET tool, for the purposes of which we will use the unit of learning outcomes called Developing Android Applications. A major contribution for our school lies in the experience gained in regards to teaching Android programming. If the methods prove effective, we will have the opportunity to enliven our curricula. An international project such as this will provide us with further experience in project management and economic assessment. The project will also serve as a motivation for younger students and, from the long-term point of view, attract new prospective students. We will strive to establish a long-term partnership with both organizations, and will continue to foster the partnerships in order to provide further education for both our students and our teachers.
