Programa de Voluntariado con Jóvenes con Discapacidad y Adultos Mayores

The Oficina de Acción Solidaria y Cooperación de la Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (OASC-UAM) hosted two European volunteers, Kelly Cleaton (Germany) and Céline Millot (France) in the "Volunteering Programme for Young People with Disabilities and Elderly People" carried out during 9 months (01/10/2014-30/06/2015) to make their European Voluntary Service. The partner Sending Organisations were: "Jugendbildungsstätte unterfranken" (JUBI) from Germany and "Mission Locale de Villeurbanne" from France. The project was funded by the European Commission within Erasmus+ Programme with a 12.280€ budget. The main goal of this project is to promote support to young people with intellectual disabilities from PRODIS Foundation, to strengthen their capacities, autonomy and social and labour inclusion. Besides, the volunteers supported the activities with elderly people in an elderly home, developing and strengthening intergenerational solidarity. The volunteers implemented tasks related to supporting teachers and students with intellectual disabilities of the programe of the youth laboral inclusion, for instance file storage and administrative tasks, new technologies, English, culture and society, among other subjects. They also participated in the leisure activities at the elderly home such as handicrafts making, theatre and dancing. They supported as well other activities related to the Oficina de Acción Solidaria y Cooperación's work, mainly in the organization of the Oficina's Library, supporting the disability area and activities in the Solidarity week. As well, they have collaborated in SVE documentation activities and other exceptional organisation's tasks Besides, they participated in different courses and trainings offer by the OASC-UAM as the "Training in Sign Language" or "Training in elderly people volunteering".
