Professional development
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

A good school and high-quality teaching undoubtedly are in need of professional teachers. In order to be able to work professionally as a teacher long term one needs to take part in courses for personal development. Especially when it comes to teaching foreign languages it should include trips to the country of the target language, exchange with native speakers and information on the latest approaches to foreign language learning based on current research. The primary aim of this very project is to promote our English teacher's methodological skills and professional expertise. For this purpose, she shall participate in a one week training at ACD College in London on the topic "Young Learners". This course concentrates on primaryschool-related issues and methods which specifically deal with foreign language teaching. Participants are encouraged to share ideas, knowledge and materials both on the course and later through the ADC College's online forum, where they can post and download material, as well as establish connections with fellow attendees. A questionnaire (before the arrival), an individual learning plan (during the time of the course) and a long-term feedback form (after the course has ended) serve the preparation, evaluation and long-term benefits of the training. We expect the participant to get new inspiration und input. It is intended for her to try out and integrate new ideas, techniques and approaches in her own lessons. We do expect long-term contacts with English teachers from other primary schools to be established so that there will be an ongoing exchange of ideas and experiences even after the one week of training.
