Professional Development (PD) Learning Programme for Rubber Industries

The project will develop a series of internationally recognised Credit Units (CU) amongst the project partners, to provide training for undergraduate/postgraduate students and professionals wishing to enhance their professional development in the European rubber industries. The courses will be developed as internet-based modules that users can access from the partner countries, so allowing up-to-date training in rubber industry techniques irrespective of student location. In total, students will be offered 70 international CU; to include 30 CU produced specifically for this project, 20 CU prepared by the European Tyre School in an earlier Leonardo-funded project and 20 other CU from project partners on background knowledge and project works in the rubber industry. Students can then freely pick and choose from the range of units offered by the project partners via the internet. Students who want to take the project's professional development examination for the rubber industry will be required to complete at least 30 CU. The Tampere University of Technology, as the project promoter and organiser, will be responsible for managing and developing the CU material from the project partners and making it available to users via the internet. The courses on offer as CU will be piloted alongside the project's virtual learning environment. The CU courses and the project results will be disseminated and marketed by the project partners to potential users across Europe. Websites, conferences and seminars will be used for marketing purposes.
