ProfeSsional development for an effeCtive PBL approach: a practical experiENce through ICT-enabled lEarning solutions
Start date: Jan 1, 2012,

The SCENE project is inspired by the EU need to support the initial and continuous training of all professionals (teachers and school managers) involved in the education field, both at secondary school and Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector, by developing their competences and qualifications. The SCENE Project intends to realize a multilingual PBL working environment, comprising an e-learning platform, a repository and a virtual facilitator, for secondary school and Vocational Education and Training teachers and school leaders. The project will consist of two main phases: - The first phase will focus on the design and production of the Multilingual PBL working environment in terms of both content and technological aspects. The main outputs will be PBL scenarios, Los and PBL working environment. - The second phase, experimentation, incorporates the delivery of the whole training path for secondary school/ VET teachers/managers. The training sessions on PBL will be delivered through an inductive method and will be divided into three main phases: practical sessions on solving PBL scenarios, turning practice into theory thanks to the support of a theoretical online course and constructing scenarios with the support of a virtual facilitator. The target groups, partners in the project (so, actively involved) will be constantly monitored by partners. After six months of experimentation, the results will identify if the project work helped improve the application of the methodology in the working environment and determine if it is a suitable product to be used in education on a wide scale. The impact of the project envisages a PBL working environment that will encourage the development of teachers/trainers (managers' metacognition strategies, problem solving, critical thinking and professional judgment.
